    Why I Practice

    In 1998, I became a serious practitioner with my promotion to first degree black belt. My Nidan rank (second degree) was earned in 2005. Hard to believe its been 24 years since I walked into the SKA Dojo in Chelsea NY. Much sweat and tears have been shed, but the training has strengthened and improved me in many ways.     On behalf of Shotokan Karate of America I am thrilled to welcome you to our practice! We will learn traditional karate, exercise our body and mind and have fun in the process. Please wear a T shirt and comfortable pants and remember to bring with you a bottle of water! The class will be structured to include one bathroom break and two or more water breaks as needed.
